I love to over indulge in Michael Jackson.  MJ’s music colors my soul; it makes every morsel of my being completely and deeply alive.  Seriously, my energy level goes off the charts!  No cup of Joe can compete. When I watch his music videos I can’t stop (MJ is the one that sang “Don’t Stop to You Get Enough.”)  Well I surely haven’t had enough. Michael Jackson radiates a FEELING that no other has ever done. He is all about FEELING and feeling GOOD. Maybe this is why I relate to him so much.  If you watch his performances the audience is overjoyed with emotions, they are feeling it.  From dancing to tears to dropping on the ground not only in America but also, also around the globe. MJ is global and the King of Pop!

 

My blog will not serve Michael Jackson to the fullest.  My words will simply be in relation to him the phenomenon.  In the last week I went to see “This Is It” not once but three times and I think I might have a fourth and more in me.  And, hell YES I can’t wait to own this movie and truly hope it goes on to DVD.

 

Oprah Winfrey said it so perfectly, “Michael Jackson teaches us how to be an artist in our own life”, and she is so correct.  I had no clue why his tour was called “This Is It” and the magnitude of the meaning until I watched the movie.  The message of “This Is It” is about saving our precious planet.  I can only imagine what a huge impact his fifty sold out concert tour could have done to influence people, and inspire them to take action to save our planet at a global level. What a huge loss.

 

When I watched the movie it brought tears and resurfaced so many memories, brought me back to age thirteen. I owned MJ pants (you know the kind with the zippers), totally freaking out when his music came on the radio at that age, my first love. I thought about watching him perform Billie Jean on TV at the Music Awards in the 80’s, and I will never forget the first media coverage in my teens when he appeared in Europe and people where sobbing, crying, and falling to the ground because they saw him.  

 

Here is how “This Is It” has impacted me:

 

Now, more than ever I want to be better a person today than I was yesterday.

 

It is totally COOL to be effortless, completely loving, passionate, and precise.  

 

Michael said in the movie  “Take it to Infinity” life gets big and happens when you completely participate in the creation of your life.

 

That when we judge without knowing we cut ourselves off from greatness and inspiration.

 

I found out what it really means save the planet.  Human beings make a difference when they unite.

 

When you do what you love there is no stopping you! Magic happens.  Your tribe will be present along side.  This is so clear in the movie.  One of my favorites parts of the movie is when MJ was side by side with the female guitarist and he said to her “This is your time to shine,” than he said a few minutes later “this is your time to shine and we will all be right here with you” BEAUTIFUL.

 

That full participation in the creation of your own life is so juicy good!

 

The time is now, and there is no better time in the world.

 

Have FUN doing what you LOVE.

 

Don’t stay in negative emotion stay in the L to the O to the V to the E!!!

 

Value.  Choices and options are always available. I suggest asking yourself what choice will add the greatest value in your life.  Than make that choice you won’t go wrong.  In the scene with the bulldozer MJ nailed it! He knew exactly which choice would add the greatest value.  I had goose bumps all over me.

 

Holding hands in a circle with your tribe, setting the intentions, acknowledging there is love and knowing has a huge positive impact to the human soul.

 

Respect is highly contagious.  Always respect yourself.

 

FEELING.  I love to FEEL GOOD and always opt for it.  MJ defines feeling.  I love the scene when he said to Kenny O “I don’t have to see the backdrop, I will just feel when it is gone. “ When you feel it you own it!

 

My heart melted in sound of Michael Jackson's laughter when the keyboard director said “I’m going to put a little more booty in it!”  Michael’s giggle was precious. So this is how I will live each day putting a little more booty in it, connecting more to what inspires me and brings me fully alive, and being the artist of my amazing life.

 

Long Live the King! The Love Will Never End….  

Perfectly Imperfect Self

Many people think they need to be different before their lives can shift. Of course I disagree.  I tell clients to take their perfectly imperfect self and show up.  Why do this?  You create self acceptance by showing up in your life just as you are right now.  You don't have to be totally confident, fearless, or clear to show up in your life. You don't have to be different to show up now and move towards your goals.  Life can be unclear and you can still take action just by showing up in your own life.  This means you can show up:

overweight

ashamed

tired

messed up

unprepared

afraid

with a open mind

happy

with love

with wrinkles on your face

preoccupied

with opinions

with anger

in the outfit that's not your favorite

without your lipstick on

with your hair pulled back

with your workout cloths on

confused

curious

Showing up for yourself just the way you are helps you relax into your own skin and get comfortable.  Are you going to wait to love yourself until your at the perfect weight or have the perfect partner?  Loving yourself just as you are leads you to where you want to end up.  Self acceptance of the perfectly imperfect self is expansive and provides synergy towards your goals.  Self acceptance is embracing yourself just as you are now.  

Take your perfectly imperfect self and take action towards your goals, show up at the gym, in the conversation, in class, in your career, in your relationships, in your bank account, tell someone you goofed up or that you did something brilliant. Many people don't talk about themselves because they don't feel worthy or they feel ashamed.   Take whatever your hiding and let it be known.  When you reveal yourself you create a flow inside your being, you free yourself of your own shackles and you start to accept yourself in the present moment.  So, if your overweight and your resisting going for a walk outside or to the gym because your not different yet, just show up and let it be known.  In the midst of showing up your create change. What you get in return is movement forward. Showing up blows hiding out away!

Were here to live, explore, learn, and feel joy.  So why deny yourself and keep hiding out? The only result you get from not showing up is denying the self of what it truly desires.  Showing up can feel awkward and kinda frightening, but it sure is a heck of a lot better than showing up with a false mask on or isolating yourself from what you want because your not different yet. 

When are you going to show up just as you are?

 

Awaken Your Heart to LOVE

Everything that shows up in our lives experiences, people, and opportunities is a reflection of our inner beliefs.   We attract experiences that are consistent with our beliefs. Understanding what you believe about yourself, relationships and finding love is a very important process to attracting TRUE LOVE.  Awakening your heart to love is a juicy concept to me!  I coach lots of women and men who want love in their lives. I'm talking about the real deal kinda love.   What do believe about yourself and finding love?  It's important to understand your limiting beliefs.  Do you hear yourself say "I'm ready for some awesome love in my life," and than you hear yourself say "ya right who's gonna want me and all my baggage?"  Read below, which limiting beliefs resonate with you?

Limiting  Beliefs

Relationships are a lot of work, time consuming and draining

I'm too fat to date

I have too much baggage

I'm old

I don't even know how to date

All the good ones are taken

I'm too successful

I'm too busy to date

Who would be interested in me

I could never tell about my past

There isn't any good men in this state

I am alone

I am unlovable

I will always be abandoned

My body is defective

If you've identified with even just one limiting belief on this list,  you may have a love block. If we believe there is plenty of love in the world, that we are worthy of love giving and receiving it.  We attract a different kind of love (real deep true love) than if we are attracting from a place of fear, doubt and scarcity.  Believing and knowing you are worthy of love is key to attracting the love you want.  When our belief's conflict with our desires we actually block real deep true love from coming into our lives.  For example;  If one part of you is saying "I deserve a great relationship", but another part of you believes and says "I'll never find him or her" you lose the ability to see that loves exists all around you.  If you don't believe with a 100% certainty that you deserve love and that it is available to you, you will get the same love results as you always have.  If you want to attract the love of your life, you can take the first step which is to dis-solve the your limiting beliefs and start to remove the love block.  

Here are some questions to ask yourself and answer:

1.  What belief's about myself are the most painful?

2. What behaviors are a result of these belief's?

3.  Are these behaviors creating happiness and love in your life?

4.  Do you notice how your behaviors are blocking love from  coming into your life?

5.  What thoughts would you have think and fully believe about yourself to attract your perfect love?

6.  How would you feel knowing your are worthy of true love?

7.  How would you act if you deeply and completely believed you are lovable?

You are lovable and worthy of giving and receiving love.  You already have everything you need to attract the love of your life.  Be willing to see it and take the first step to getting the love you want.  Awaken your heart to love, your true love is waiting!

Why Eat Clean

There is nothing that taste more DELICIOUS than EATING CLEAN (PERIOD).  Eating clean = No White Flour, No Sugar (yes, this includes No Alcohol) and No Processed foods.   I don't eat white flour, sugar, or processed foods.  Weight Loss clients' often say to me  "Karen isn't it hard not to eat those types of foods, don't you miss it?" My response is NO I don't miss it and NO it's not a hard thing to do. The opposite is true for me.  It would be a lot harder for me to eat white flour, sugar and processed foods because I wouldn't get the results I want. It would be extremely hard for me to be in my body and not feel good, not to achieve optimal health, not to have great physical strength, have low energy, feel irritable, be distracted by how awful I feel and wonder why my body will not take the shape I desire, that is hard!

When I started to become  aware of how my body processed and responded to foods of low nutritional value.  I recognized I felt AWFUL and it wasn't getting me any closer to the results I wanted.  Once and awhile I would trick myself.  I would have this wild thought:  A cookie or a piece of chocolate won't hurt me.  Every single time I let this untrue thought take over my mind and I'd take action I only proved that eating these types of foods do hurt me.  I was cheating myself and body with this thought.  Here's my much truer thought:  A cookie or piece of chocolate will hurt me.  White Flour/Sugar and Processed foods are chemicals and when they enter my body it hurts my bodies systems for example; these foods contribute to inflammation in the joints and weaken the immune system. When I chose to eat foods of low quality substance I hurt.  This is the exact moment my nutrition changed for good.  It is a wonderful gift to be free of white flour, sugar and processed foods.

What do you think you'll remember in 3 months from now?  The chocolate cake you ate at the birthday party over the weekend or feeling fabulous in your jeans?  What I have found from eating clean is you always remember feeling super healthy and good, having plenty of energy, and how great you look in your clothes. There is nothing more satisfying than feeling phenomenal in your own skin and enjoying the benefits of clean eating .  You won't remember that chocolate cake you ate 3 months ago.  However, you will recall the headache  from all the sugar in the cake and the misery of the realization you sabotage your nutritional goals again.

I promise you this... the longer you eat clean white flour, sugary and processed foods won't taste good and all you will taste is the empty calories. The longer you eat clean the richer and more delicious your life will become.

Eating clean is delicious and creates delicious results.  The results prove it!

A Circle That Never Ends by Kaila

My amazing daughter has said since the time she was young "I want to be a writer".  Today she came home from school and read this poem that she wrote. After she finished reading this to me.  I looked at her and said "You already are a writer".    Who we are is already inside of us.  We just need to look within.

 

Here are her thoughts and reflections of being in middle school.   

Are we all perfect?

Do we have to fit in?

Do are cloths have to fit right?

Or do we have to be thin?

"Drink water eat right" the doctor would say

The school that I'm in has hard and boring long days

Are our nails to be painted? 

A bright color or not?

Hair put down

or in a bun way high up

Why can't we talk and see our friends?

Why homework today? and on the weekends.

Summer is gone

And same with those shorts

Soccer has started and same with many sports

The Fall leaves have fallen

And, clicks have began

What is the status quo?

And what secrets are to be undone?

Another year will pass drama and all.

Summer will come and than next fall.

New friendships will be made and enemies too.

Popular kids are there and the lame ones will shoo.

College will come, later in life.

In the end was the popularity contest just a big fight?

We'll make jobs and have kids of our own.

This circle with never change and will always be unknown.

What Do You Want?

What do you want? To be thin, have more money, find the love of your life, feel calm and peaceful, not to be so stressed, to get unstuck, figure out what your going to do with the rest of your life, be successful etc? 

Answer these questions:

What do you believe you will get if you have what you want in your life?

What emotions are associated with having what you want?

What people want in their life, is directly related to the emotion they believe they will get once they receive the want. Did you know that you don't have to wait to get your want to feel better. You can feel better now! This is empowering and when you can put yourself in the feeling state of having what you want, you increase your chances of getting the want 100%.

Your mind creates your thoughts, your thoughts when you believe them create your feelings, your feelings create your actions, your actions create your results in your life.

Here is a want:

I want to be lean and in good physical shape.

What does it feel like to be lean and in good physical shape?

* It feels energizing
* Feels like freedom
* It feels good


What do I have to think in order to feel lean and in good physical shape?

* I am capable 
* I'm already in the process of being lean and in good physical shape
* I can decide how I want to feel today in this moment


You can think these thoughts right now in this very moment, go ahead try this exercise out and you will instantly feel better and put yourself in alignment with getting what you want!

Are You Presidential in Your Own Life?

He has awoken us to our greatest power.

Are you Presidential in your own life?

What better time is there than to ask this question?  I highly encourage you to watch Obama victory speech if you haven't already. 

His victory speech is very powerful!  One of the many things he said was this   "I will listen to you especially when we disagree."  This statement rocked me.

I raise this question to you... are you willing to listen to YOU especially when you disagree with where you are in your life? 

Please take a moment to answer these questions for yourself.  Does your truth bubble up, but than you dismiss it because of fear or some limiting belief?  Are you willing to listen to your answer and take action in the midst of fear and confusion?

We learn our truth, the very truth that will set us free and head us towards living our best life when we disagree with what should or shouldn't be/the only if's/ I can't because/ etc. 

It is in the darkness we see our light.  Can you hear your truth and commit to action to create the change you desire? Are  you willing to stick with it even if it will take some time to reach your goal?

Are you ready to be Presidential in your own life?  Being Presidential is a decision you make just like you did when you voted.  Do you live with conviction and belief in you and your life?  Here are some tips on being a leader and being Presidential in your own life.

* Seek your truth and respond to it. Listen to your voice it is powerful and full of the best answer for you.

* Take ownership and be accountable to yourself.

* Have a deep sense of desire, belief, persistency and commitment to you and your goals.

* Show up and actively participate in your life.

* Don't react take effective action.  Do it now and ask yourself how you can do it better.

* Be visionary develop a strategic plan. Answer this...  to get the results I want I must take the following actions.  In order to feel a certain way I must think the following thoughts.

* Seek higher performance your truest potential.

* Remind yourself that fear is just a illusion.

* Recognize the only obstacle in your way is the obstacle you create.

* Acknowledge that you already have everything you need to get the job done.

* Utilize your leadership skills to get the results you want.

*  See what you want to see and be the change you want. 

* Look for the possibilities and opportunities.  They are always available to you.

* Always believe in yourself. You can!

* Have fun and create laughter.  Enjoy your one precious life.

Self Learning on Your Yoga Mat

I practice Hot Power Yoga and I LOVE it for so many reasons. I feel mental, emotional and physically clean.  I love how fluid my body feels. That feeling of being on the edge of learning something new about myself I hadn't know prior to the next posture is exciting. I always feel different in each Yoga class.  I love the way my senses come alive, the air smells so pure when I walk outside after class. Sunday morning of this past weekend I attended Yoga class (Portland Power Yoga- Maine)  and experienced myself, my mind in way that I had not noticed before.  What I realized is one of the very best ways to learn about yourself and understand your mind is on your Yoga Mat.  In a very powerful way.  Maybe that's why it's called Power Yoga :)

Yoga takes you deep within creating a opportunity to expanded yourself one pose at a time.  The life force of breath stokes your body to heal, expand and move forward.  On the yoga mat a lot of information about yourself and your mind is revealed.  Thoughts and feelings come up.  All sorts of thoughts, feelings and sensations.  I discovered that being able to let my thoughts pass with no attachment (thinking this is right/wrong, good/bad, enough/not enough, can't do/can do, etc) created a amazing open space for me to witness my fullest potential. I was free from any painful thought and I absorbed my feelings and actually felt them, free of restrictive thinking such as fear, self doubt, etc. This was true freedom.  Being able to let my thoughts pass and surrender to what I was feeling created an experience to learn more about myself.

I learned that...

I can be uncomfortable and move forward to experience life more deeply.

I am not my thoughts.

When I deliberately choose to think positive good feeling thoughts my energy level soars and I connect to my essential self.

I will always be good and I am already more than enough.

I have everything I need.  It is inside of me.

Fear  is just an illusion.

When I choose to say YES the magic happens.

Love is present.

Life is colorful.

Thoughts pass when we don't attach to them.

In good thoughts we create tons of feel good energy and fantastic experiences.
A quiet mind will create a silent sweetness that will lift your soul.

I encourage you to get on your Yoga Mat to learn a little more about yourself, your resistance, your potential, your being and inner strength. Doing something you haven't done before is a great way to know yourself.  What needs to be revealed to you will show up.  The answers come from within you.  Getting a little uncomfortable will help you move through a situation that feels uncomfortable to you. You will learn that you will survive the sensation of being uncomfortable and move to a place of freedom.  If your in transition, feel stuck, question why you're not doing what you know would be good for you, or in a dead end situation work/relationship etc.   Get on your Yoga Mat to allow your truth and answers to come to you.  My hunch is you'll be surprised what you learn about yourself!

Attract More Happiness, Wealth, Success, and Improved Well Being.

"Positive or negative emotions cannot occupy the mind at the same time. One or the other must dominate.  It is your responsibility to make sure that positive emotions constitute the dominating influence of your mind"  Napolean Hill

Creating more of what you want, happiness, wealth, success, improved well being or anything else that you desire is influenced by your thoughts.  Your thoughts create how you feel and how you feel creates your reality.

What you give your attention, energy and focus to shows up in your life whether it is positive or negative.  This is the law of attraction.  You have the ability to move from negative into the positive instantly. 

I encourage you in this moment to shift any negative thought into a better feeling thought, one that is more positive and notice how you feel. Better!  This is one of the first steps to increasing your level of happiness and finding solutions instead of being focused on the problem.

Live each day with intentional thoughts that serve your direction and purpose of your life.  Listen to your inner guidance.

Your inner guidance will let you know if your in a negative state of being, you will feel depleted, irritated, lonely, fearful, sad, or participate in behaviors that do not support your true intention.

Get in touch with the story your telling yourself, what are your thoughts? 

Influence your mind in the most powerful way you can.  Awaken your mind to a new way of thinking!
